BONJOUR!
My name is Victoria – I am an artist. In my work, I begin with my own sensations and anticipations. I’m interested in the effect of the familiar, mundane, and sentimental, and in the ways a person is shaped by the simple and beautiful.
My aim in art is to add to the beauty that surrounds me. While everyone is searching for new meanings, I want to make sense of the old ones.
Domestic space becomes the place that protects our vulnerability. The place where one can be at home like a fish in the water. Where does unity with oneself begin? When does a bathroom cease to be a mundane space and instead take us beyond the bounds of other worlds?

Statement
In my artistic practice, I work with the experience of feeling and living through things.
Working with acrylic painting and line drawing, I turn to people in everyday situations who have paused or remembered something. They think about the past while the present around them slips away and moves swiftly on. My art is always personal and deeply felt. An impressionistic approach to painting and a free, flowing line are my language: the path from thought to image.
My art does not investigate anything, nor does it pretend to be more complex than it is. I have chosen figurative painting and drawing because, for me, they are the most expressive ways of being understood. I am interested in the moment when someone remembers something, falls silent, becomes still, or takes a breath.
As a child, I felt there was not enough beauty around me. That is why today I celebrate beauty in my paintings and in my life. My works are memories of memories.
